Sounds like: Sixpence None The Richer, Belly, The Sundays
The great news is that Eisley has finally released a full length, the bad news is that Eisley has finally released a full length; If you are an Eisley fan then you have heard most of the songs before from their two EPs, but if you just got into them it makes for a wonderful starting ground.
They maintain their glossy yet whimsical outlook with stories of swallowing fireflies and bats with butterfly wings, something any music lover will appreciate. Their “Alice in Wonderland” sound is a welcome change from all cookie-cutter punk bands and overproduced pop acts, the deeply haunting melodies and vocals stir up feeling of beauty and respite.
The comparisons to Sixpence and Belly will continue, but this is the twenty-first century and those bands are no longer performing or releasing albums – so Eisley has the music world on a silver platter. Songs like “My Lovely” and “Lost at Sea” fully showcase this band as they perform sickly sweet melodies of love; or take a listen to “Golly Sandra” while they try and give country music a facelift. Their lyrics are the real story, painting pictures and images of the absurdly fanciful in the listeners mind, and this is what sets them apart from their influences.
They have not come into their own, but at this rate they don’t need to, this music will charm even the most jaded listener.
