This is probably the best debut from a BEC artist since... well, anyone. And that includes Jeremy Camp. The guitars are absolutely crushing, while the vocals are crisp and clean. There is just so much going for this album that it’s very hard to find anything negative about it. This Oregon based sextet sounds so good, you’d think they’d been rocking for years, when in fact, one of the guitarists is a mere 16 years old.

Their sound is tinged with metal, but it’s definitely not. Their speed rivals that of most pop/punk bands. It’s fast with very prevalent percussion, but it’s definitely not pop/punk. There are a lot of rap elements, but it’s certainly not rapcore. What I’m getting at is that Falling Up’s sound is very hard to classify, other than that it’s hard rock/metal. And it’s very, VERY good.

One shining highlight is the track “New Hope Generation.” Pounding guitars and percussion, good DJ scratching and a third verse rap come together to create a stellar song that will have you reaching for the “Repeat” button.

Crashings also features a well-toted lineup of guests: Jon Micah Sumrall of Kutless, Ryan Clark of Demon Hunter, pop/hip hop artist Paul Wright, and label mate rapper Benjiman all make appearances—in the same song! “Jackson Five” combines the amazing talents of all these artists to create a flat out incredible song.

Other highlights are “Broken Heart,” “Falling In Love,” “Symmetry” and “Bittersweet.”
Every song has rock solid riffs, lyrics, rhythm and instrumentation. Look for this band to have a huge, long and well distinguished career. And as a side note, if the band comes within 6 hours of you on tour, GO. They have possibly the most high-energy show in America. They have an insane amount of energy.
