In an era where mediocrity is praised and the trendiest are rewarded, Copeland brings a nice change of pace with an intelligent pop (yes, I said pop) record, In Motion.

Ok, the first song ‘No One Really Wins” does start off typical, with its emo sound. Thanks to Aaron Marsh’s vocals and the driving piano on the chorus, this song does become more than tolerable.

The CD gets interesting with the second track “Choose the One Who Loves You More” that has a catchy fuzz bass groove throughout. “Pin Your Wings” is a roll your windows down – summer fun song that should be played loudly from June – September.

You’ve only got one rocker left – “Love Is a Fast Song”, where Aaron’s passion makes a typical rock song more engaging. But where Aaron really shines on “In Motion” is the slower paced tracks like “Sleep” and “You Have My Attention”. Easily, the standout track on this album is “Kite”. Reminiscent of an old silent film, complete with a film projector playing in the background, this piano and vocal song (again showcasing Aaron’s vocal range) is a beautiful love song that show the promising future this band has.

If emo has you down, and you need a change of pace in your CD library, definitely pick this one up.
